Michael Sullivan, 75, of Whiting, NJ, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, June 29, 2025, in Aurora, Colorado. Michael was born and raised in Jersey City, New Jersey. Michael was a Chief Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force, serving 24 years at several military bases, including Kirtland AFB, New Mexico; Holloman AFB, New Mexico; and Vandenberg AFB, California, specializing in Instrumentation and Electronics. Upon retirement from the Air Force, Michael returned to New Jersey and was contracted to work as an Avionics Technician for the United States Government at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst. His duties included testing and repairing aircraft communication and navigation equipment, until his retirement in 2019. Michael continued working as a technician for the New Jersey Forest Fire Service, servicing aircraft used to fight fires, until the time of his passing.
Michael was a man who found joy in life’s simple and meaningful pleasures, such as playing a cutthroat game of Monopoly or cribbage, enjoying a craft beer with family and friends, hearing the roar of an engine, or the sight of a racetrack. He had a passion for speed whether it be cars, planes, helicopters, or riding his motorcycle. He enjoyed good music, reading, sports, and a “righteous” meal shared around a table with family and friends, full of stories, laughter, and seconds (and sometimes-even thirds).
Michael enjoyed quiet evenings sitting on the couch with his wife and their pets. He always looked forward to time spent with friends and family, and his Friday breakfasts with “the guys.” He was thoughtful, genuinely kind, and always the first one to offer to lend a hand or help out. Michael had a positive outlook on life and always looked for the good in others.
Above all, Michael loved his family. He was a proud and devoted dad and grandfather. He was fiercely loyal, endlessly supportive, and always made time for those he loved. His greatest pride was watching his family grow and thrive. While he may have parked his motorcycle for the last time, his ride continues in the love he gave, the music he shared, and the memories that will never fade.
Michael is predeceased by his father, Michael J. Sullivan; mother Annetta Hope Sullivan (nee Rapacioli); brother, William Marks; sister, Annette Baker; grandson Gabriel David Ruzzo; former father and mother-in-laws Alejandro, and Anna Garcia.
