Paschalis Fidanakis

Paschalis Fidanakis, 74, of Whiting, NJ, passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023 at Community Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Paschalis was born in Sofiko-Didymoteixoy-Evros, Greece where he served in the Army as a machine gunist. He immigrated to the United States in 1972, to Forked River, NJ where he met his wife, JoAnn. They married in 1974 and moved to Bloomfield, NJ where they raised their two sons. They later moved to Whiting in 2017.

Paschalis was very philanthropic and served as President of the Panthracian Union of America (Orpheus), working tirelessly to help his community here in the U.S. and in Sofiko, Greece. Among many other acts of service, he shipped medical equipment to those in need at the hospital in Didymoteicho and helped a young man, who lost his legs in an accident, walk again with the help of prosthetics.

He was a very talented and successful businessman and builder, flipping and selling over 20 houses on his own. He enjoyed gardening, walking & watching soccer. He also loved entertaining and socializing with family & friends. He will be dearly missed.

Paschalis was predeceased by his parents, Argyrios and Syftylia Fidanakis; his older brother Christos Fidanakis; and his close in-laws Joe & Alma Vandenburg. He is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, JoAnn (Vandenburg) Fidanakis; his 2 sons Anthony Fidanakis and his wife Domna and John Fidanakis; his brother Dimitri Fidanakis; and their adopted daughter Georgia Chrysiliou and her husband Christodoulos.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 from 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ. A church visitation will also be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 at St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 2200 Church Road in Toms River, NJ from 9:30-10am prior to the funeral service, which begins at 10am. Entombment will follow at Hollywood Cemetery in Union, NJ.
