Richard Dority, 77, passed away on July 1st 2026. Born and raised in Boston Massachusetts, Richard was a self taught pianist who started going to see the Boston Pops with his aunt at a young age. He proudly served his country as an Army soldier, doing three tours of duty in Vietnam. Until he was 70, he put flags on Veterans' graves on Memorial Day and Veteran's Day.
Richard was an accountant by trade, with a degree from Northwestern University. He worked for engineering companies, including Gandhi Engineering in Manhattan, New York, where he worked into his 70's.
He wrote lots of music, which is posted on Bandcamp, and a musical called 1916. He enjoyed playing cribbage, watching sports of all kinds, and watching his sons play live music. He bought guitars for his sons when they were in their teens and encouraged them greatly.
A big part of his legacy is being a proud father. His sons are proud of him too.
