Stephen Howard Schulz

Stephen Howard Schulz, 82, of Whiting, passed away on November 22, 2019 in Whiting, NJ.

Stephen was born on December 17, 1936 in Newark NJ, to Howard and Edna Schulz. He graduated from Upsala College with a degree in Accounting after serving in the Navy on the USS Iowa for 6 years. He worked as a carpenter in home renovation for the past 45 years. He served his community as an active Mason with the Atlas Pythagoras Lodge #10, in Westfield. He was a devout Christian who loved and served the Lord by using his carpentry skills to improve the facilities at America’s Keswick Christian Retreat and Drug Rehabilitation Center. He was a devoted father who enjoyed spending time with his family at the summer home he built with his son. He was a fisherman and enjoyed riding his motorcycle, bowling, and was an avid Giants fan. He was a devoted husband who enjoyed cruising with his beloved wife Lynn.

Stephen is preceded in death by his Parents Howard and Edna Schulz, his brother Lowell, and the mother of his children and wife of 42 years, Carolyn

Stephen is survived by spouse Lynn Schulz, Children Gregg Schulz (Susan), Donna Gorman (Keith), Dawn Ware (Paul) and Eric Schulz (Rose) and his brother Barry. He is also survived by his grandchildren Caitlyn, Tyler, Melanie, Abigail, Mackenzie, Brice and Dakota and his great grandsons, Jacob and Adam: stepsons Paul, Jeremy, Joel, Rhys, and grandchildren Olivia, & Sadie.

Visitation will be Monday November 25 from 4-8pm and Tuesday morning from 9 to 10 am with Services beginning at 10am from the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ 08759. Committal will follow at the Hollywood Memorial Park, 1500 Stuyvesant Ave. Union, NJ 07083.

Charlie and I send our condolences to Steve’s family and friends. We were next door neighbors in Clark for many years. Two memories stand out, meeting Steve shortly after I moved in and frequently seeing him intently reading while sitting on his front steps. I think of him often when I too, read in the front yard.

Sending our Sincere Condolences to the Schulz family for the loss of your Family Patriarch, Steve. We remember him as a Family man with a strong work ethic whose deep faith carried him through the tough times and enriched his daily life.

For his children Eric, Donna, Greg & Dawn, may your good memories of your Dad help through this difficult time, especially the last weekend at the Lake House in Pennsylvania. For you & your spouses, your children & grandchildren, we know he will be missed. Please keep his memory alive in the youngest ones minds with stories & photographs.

For Lynn, whom we haven’t met, please accept our deepest Sympathy for the loss of your husband. Steve was our neighbor across the street on Alice Lane in Clark.
