Virginia Watson Steinmetz, 101, of Whiting, passed away peacefully Saturday March 30 at her place of residence. Although she was a homemaker she was very active throughout her life. Born in Harrisburg and having lived there for some time she lived in Staten Island most of her life, coming to Whiting 24 years ago. She loved to crochet and made many a blanket for many people. She loved bowling with her husband when they were young and she was an avid bingo player. Above all she loved her family very much. Virginia was predeceased by her husband of 50 years, the late Valentine Steinmetz in 2003. Surviving are her 6 children, Barbara McKelvey & her husband Daniel, Carol Safchinsky & her husband Bob, Valentine Steinmetz & his wife Sharon, Robert Steinmetz & his wife Lori, Lillian Velluzzi & Her husband Nick, & Diane Young & her husband Ken. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren & 2 greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, April 4 from 5-8pm at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 115 Lacey Rd. Whiting, NJ 08759. Services will be offered at the Christ Lutheran Church, 40 Schoolhouse Rd. Whiting at 10 am. In Lieu of Flowers the family respectfully request donations to one’s favorite charity.
