A wake will be held 6:00-8:00pm with rosary at 7:00 pm, Friday, January 18, 2019 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home located at 1917 Archer City Hwy., Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be at 9:00 am, Saturday, January 19, 2019 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wichita Falls, Texas, with Father Khoi Tran officiating. Committal Service will be held in Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
Bernice was born on January 28, 1924, in Lowell, Michigan to Clyde & Zelda (McIntyre) Mullen. She married Eugene Wallig in 1955. Before moving to Wichita Falls, Texas in 1966, Bernice served in the U.S. Marine Corp as a Corporal from 1951-55 in the Communications Division, stationed in Hawaii. After marrying Gene, they were stationed overseas in various countries during his service.
She was Civil Service for 22 years in Base Supply being recognized many times for outstanding service. After retiring she began volunteering for family support/services giving more than 5,000 hours of her time.
Bernice was a faithful member of Sacred Heart. She continued volunteering and sharing her time with Alter Society, Northwest Deanery Council and Jubilee club.
She is survived by her son, Eric Wallig and his wife, Stacy; grandchildren Jonathan "J.P." Wallig, Mary Grace Wallig, Marlee Stevens, and Jace Stevens (Gabby); great-grandchildren, Devereaux "D.J." and Bella Wallig, Kohen Kreede, and Layla Stevens.
The family would like to send special thanks to staff at Promise Nursing Facility: Giselle, Dorothy, Brittany, Sara and Donna; and to Dr Robert Parkey and the staff at Hospice of Wichita Falls.
