

Arthur Wayne Tofte, 74, of Burkburnett, TX died Friday April 22nd following a brief illness. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Lawson of Thornberry Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:00 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Tofte was born October 14, 1936 in Roseau, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edith Victoria Ostman and Arthur Joseph Tofte. He is survived by two sisters, Gloria Simmerman of Jacksonville, OR and Shirley Tofte of Monterrey, CA; two sons, Darryl Tofte of Wichita Falls, and Damon Tofte and wife, Deanna Tofte of Wichita Falls; his grandson Jerrrod Tofte; his soul mate, Chlorine Moody of Burkburnett, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and many friends.
He was a 1954 graduate of Wichita Falls High School, and attended Texas A&M University. In 1956, he enlisted in the US Navy, serving two tours in Vietnam. Following naval service, he went on to work his entire career in civil service, first at the Naval Air Facility in Alameda, CA and later Sheppard Air Force Base as both an electronics and mechanical fabricator, where he received numerous awards and honors, including Civilian Employee of The Year. He retired in 2006 after 42 years of service.
Mr. Tofte had a passion for ultra-light aircraft, reading, and animals. He was also a constant scholar of World War II history. He was an avid blood donor throughout his life.
