

Byron was born in Wichita Falls, TX to Elgin and Ventie Cline on September 18, 1954. He was one of four children, and the youngest to three sisters. Byron graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1973 and he was involved with the marching band: The Big Red Band from Coyote Land where he played the snare drum. After high school, he worked various jobs, but always came back to truck driving. He retired from driving in 2019.
Byron was a beloved father and husband, and known as “PawPaw” by his grandchildren. He had a love for his church and sang in the church choir for 25+ years. He was involved in his Life Group at First Baptist Church along with Pastor’s Prayer Partners. Outside of church, his main passion that brought him the greatest joy was showing cars. He owned many different makes and models throughout his adult life and was a part of the Wichita County Corvette Association for many years.
Byron is survived by his wife, Gayle Cline of Wichita Falls; his children Cathy Sharp and her husband Jason, of Little Elm; Chase Cline of Wichita Falls; Laura Poston and her husband Joe of Wichita Falls; and Kit Baldwin and wife Trina of Frisco, TX; his grandchildren Erin, Carter, Kendall, Jonah, Clayton, and Amelia; Sisters Deborah Liberty of Wichita Falls and Jan Clement of Wichita Falls; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Byron was preceded in death by both of his parents and eldest sister, Ira Gale Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls (East Sanctuary) at 2:00 P.M. on April 28, 2023 with Doctor Bob McCartney officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made either to First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls or the charity of your choice.
