

Charles Ralph Medlin, 90. A loving husband, Dad and Grandad. Born February 21, 1931. He went home to be with his Lord and Savior, November 28, 2021. Visitation will be at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, December 2 from 6:00-8:00pm. Services will be Friday, December 3 at 2:00pm in the Chapel. Graveside service following at Crestview Memorial Park.
He was born in Caruthersville, MO. to Wilmer Branch Medlin and Ruby Lee (McGee) Medlin. Charles graduated from Gray Ridge High School. He met the love of his life, Barbara (Patterson) Medlin, at 20 years of age at Central Baptist Church and they were married for 69 years. He was an honest, hardworking man and loved his family and friends dearly. His motto was "Do unto others as you would have others do unto you", and he lived by this faithfully. He served 4 years active duty in the United States Air Force, followed by 30 years in Civil Service and 20 years in the Air Force Reserves. He was in the fields of Biomedical equipment maintenance and repair, Ballistic Missile Analyst (Titan I), Aircraft maintenance, Technical Illustrating & Instructor and a GS 12 Training Advisor. He received the Augmenter Reservist of the Year Award, and Meritorious Service Medal. He went to night school at Midwestern State University and Wayland Baptist University earning his BSOE degree in Biomedical Sciences. He began his small business of Certified Biomedical in 1986 and ran it for 35 years. Tech Nation Magazine wrote an article about him, honoring his business. He loved music and was a Southern Baptist Music Director for 45 years. He was a member of Trinity Baptist Church. He had a talent of drawing and loved art. He played baseball as a pitcher and drew the attention of a scout for the St, Louis Browns Minor League, after striking out multiple batters in a row. He had to enlist in the Air Force during the tryouts and missed the opportunity. He continued to play baseball and in church softball leagues on the side. In his early years he worked in the fields picking cotton to help his family, growing up. He had the cotton-picking record of 465 lbs. of cotton in 1 day. He continued the work of his small business until his last days, as he always wanted. He will be loved and missed dearly by his family and friends.
Charles was preceded in death by: His parents, Wilmer Branch Medlin and Ruby Lee (McGee) Medlin, Brother: Paul Nickson Medlin. Father-in-law, Austin Patterson, Mother-in-law, Grace Patterson. Brother-in-law, Bobby Patterson. Nephews: Gregory "Greg" Patterson and David Lancaster.
Survivors include his wife, Barbara J Medlin of Wichita Falls, daughters; Tammie Venable and spouse Cary Venable, Angela Cummings and spouse Kenny Cummings. Grand Children: Amanda Ball, Meagan Goates and spouse Christopher Goates, Sara Medlin, Zachariah Cummings and spouse Emilee Cummings, Kaitlyn Cummings and fiancé BK Ashenafi, Jared Venable and spouse Madison Venable, Jacob Venable, and Seth Cummings. Great Grand Children: Braeden Ball, Liam Goates, Olivia "Olive" Goates and Charlotte "Charlie" Venable. Brother Donald "Don" Medlin and spouse Oma June "June" Medlin, Sisters: Carolyn Lancaster and spouse Rev Gene Lancaster, Sherry Owens and spouse Alvin Owens, Debbie Thornton and spouse Doug Thornton. Brother-in-law Steve Patterson and spouse Laura Patterson, Sister-in-law Judy Patterson. Charles has seven nieces and six nephews and their families.
