

Born on October 9, 1949, in Mount Olive, North Carolina, Cheryl was raised in Beautancus, North Carolina, where she learned the values of hard work, compassion, and devotion to family. In 1980, she married Mike Pappan, and together they made their home in Wichita Falls, Texas, where Cheryl would spend the remainder of her life.
Cheryl devoted nearly 40 years to Wichita Falls ISD, beginning as a paraprofessional before serving in the communications department and later as administrative assistant to several superintendents. She ultimately became Executive Director of the Wichita Falls ISD Foundation, where she passionately supported and inspired current and future educators.
Above all, Cheryl deeply loved her family and treasured time with her sons, grandchildren, extended family, and friends. She enjoyed traveling to Colorado with her beloved fiancé, Bruce Anderson, and sharing her creativity through beautiful flower arrangements and handmade crafts.
She is survived by her two sons, John David Caroll, his wife Patricia, and daughter Arianna; and Ryan Andrew Caroll, his wife Cory, and son Cole Scott. Cheryl is also survived by her sister, Jean Brock Long of Chesapeake Beach, Maryland; nephews Stephen Long and Michael Long Jr.; niece Jenna Carroll and her husband Jack; great-nephews Nicholas, Noah, and Griffin; great-nieces Mackenzie Williams and Maggie Coil; and her spoiled and beloved cat, Oreo.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, David John Brock and Matilda Dail Brock; sisters DeLauris Brock James and Beverly Brock Hatch; her husband, Mike Pappan; brother-in-law Michael Long; grandson Corey Sanderson; and her fiancé, Bruce Anderson.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home with burial to follow at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park.
