Cynthia was born 9 November 1951 to Harry and Judy Oakey in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was married to Ernest “Mickey” Green on March 23, 1968 and renewed her marriage vows on March 23, 1978 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church.. They lived and raised their family in Wichita Falls except for a short stint in Shreveport, Louisiana where Mickey’s work took him from 2002- 2010.
Cynde’s life was “all music,” second only to her family. She studied music at MSU and her and her husband, Mickey, worked extensively with music groups and she even taught music for a short time at Notre Dame. She was music director for the contemporary service at Sacred Heart from approximately 1977 – 1986 where she and Mickey also worked with the youth group. She was said to have volunteered her talent to help in the music area at the Sheppard chapel and from 1988 – 2001 she was music director for the choir at Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Chapel.
During their tenure in Shreveport she was music director at the Schumpert Catholic Hospital chapel, always using her beautiful, God-given voice to praise Him and lead others to do the same. She returned to Wichita Falls and again served at Our Lady of the Skies Catholic Chapel from 2011 till her death. Together, Cynde and Mickey brought so many to not only believe but to practice their faith. She was so supportive of all of her family in all of their life endeavors, especially her Grandchildren, Gage and Jordan, who were her source of pride and love. She will be missed enormously by family and friends, one and all.
Cynde was preceded in death by her husband, Mickey in 2014,her Father, Harry in 2010and her Mother, Judy in 2014. She is survived by sons Scot Green and wife Lisa and Shawn Green; grandson, Gage Green; granddaughter, Jordan Green, all of Wichita Falls; sisters, Connie Johnson and husband Joe; Claudia Humphries and husband Joel: Claire Rowe and husband Terry; Sister- in- law Nancy Kelley and husband Stan and numerous nephews and nieces. She will also be missed by her pet dogs Max and Maggie, survivors who will miss her equally as all humans left behind.
