Doris L Haigood

Doris L. Haigood, 92, died Friday, July 10, 2015 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, July 16, 2015 in the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:30-7:30pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015, at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Doris was born on April 28, 1923, in Archer County, Texas, To J.H. Whitaker and Ola (McCracken) Whitaker. She grew up on the family farm in Clay County. She married Marshall Haigood on November 5, 1942 in Bluegrove, Texas, Moving to Wichita Falls soon after their Marriage. Doris was the payroll accountant at Midwestern State University for 21 years, retiring in 1982. She was an active member of Southside Baptist Church for 72 years.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, brother Ben Whitaker of Wichita Falls, and sister Gwendolyn Dickey of Henrietta.

Survivors include her husband, Marshall, brother, Euel Whitaker of Wichita Falls; Two sons, Larry Haigood and wife Mary of Tom Ball, Texas, along with Mary’s children; and Lyndell Haigood, and wife Cathy of Wichita Falls. Survivors also include granddaughters, Jennifer Blake, and husband, Brett; and Dr. Jody Lorimer and husband, Ryan; and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Southside Baptist Church, 2210 Holiday, Wichita Falls, TX.
