03/17/1980 – 02/03/2022
Beloved Son, Brother, Grandson, Uncle and Friend, Dustin (Dusty) Collins was called home to be with Jesus and other family member on February 03, 2022.
Dustin’s love of life and family shines through in his devotion, selflessness, dedication, love and care for all family members in their time of need, but especially to his mother and Father. After his Father’s heart surgery in 2019, Dusty worked tirelessly in making sure that his rehabilitation and recovery was successful. During his mother’s recent battle with Breast Cancer, his compassionate help and devotion surpassed even a mother’s dream for a child.
What else was so important in Dustin’s life that will remain as his unforgettable legacy?
. The family put together a list of traits that they loved about Dusty. Here are some of the characteristics members of his immediate family penned in his honor:
Unique, creative, intelligent, artist, chef, caring, loving and giving. The most important has to be love. He loved Jesus; He loved his family. Love Covers them all. If you walked into a room, he made sure he greeted and hugged you. He could pull a practical joke and receive some without any hesitation. He had a very dry sense of humor and made us laugh all the time.
What did Dustin love and enjoy in life?
Sports – any and all sports but especially the Dallas Cowboys, the Texas Rangers and the Dallas Mavericks. He organized a family and friends “Fantasy Football” League and was a terrific manager of all games and events.
Other interests included music, love of animals and history. His favorite holiday was Christmas, which he made perfect for everyone.
What are some of Dustin’s journeys in life and accomplishments?
An educational stretch of time working at McDonalds in Wichita Falls, where he learned more about life, people, and even love of cooking.
A tremendously enjoyable time at KFDX TV3 as Cameraman.
Author of a published novel, “Another Day Falling” by Dustin Collins.
Dustin also worked in the family businesses – 1st in his father’s company, Colins Ceramic Tile Co., and more recently in M. Collins & Co. where he managed the IT Computer needs and all office operations.
However, his greatest contributions were centered around serving, as he was an excellent cook, planner, and artistic creator. He was such an artist. He built his momma a beautiful train city which takes up our big family table at Christmas. The details in it are amazing. Of Course, it is something that brings us great joy.
He had a true servant’s heart towards his family. He loved and honored his mother and father beyond earthly measures. He made Sure all his bothers had “Mema’s twice baked potatoes” and that all his great nieces and nephews had their hot chocolate at all special occasions.
The relationship he had with his nephews was also immeasurable. He was their friend, their confidant, their playmate and a parent figure when necessary.
He was our “baby leprechaun”, our “Red”. He will be missed so much. His brothers have very big shoes to fill and they are so very honored to try.

We the Family would like to encourage you as you remember Dusty that all that we are comes from love. Choose Jesus and choose love. Be the young man or lady that Honors your parent, stands by your brother’s sides and is a confidant when you are needed. 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7.
This following says it all about Dusty. The evening before his passing, his older brother texted him to check on him and told him to stay warm as the snow was beginning to fall. Dusty’s response and last text was “I am fine and our love of Jesus will keep us warm”.
