Electra Pauline “Peggy” Turnbo passed away on February 18, 2018 in Wichita Falls. Funeral services will be at First Baptist Church in Wichita Falls at 11:00 AM Friday, February 23, 2018 with Pastor Bob McCartney officiating. Burial will be a private service for the family at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home prior to the service at the church.
Peggy was born March 30, 1917 in Lingleville, TX to the late A.A. Yardley and Emma Huffman Yardley. She attended John Tarleton College in Stephenville, TX where she met her beloved husband, Leland Hugh Turnbo. They were married June 5, 1937. Leland passed away on May 23, 1971.
Peggy was a long time member of First Baptist Church, teaching in the elementary Sunday School, was active in Round Table and Mission Study Groups. She was a member of the Glory Choir from the beginning in 1985.
She worked at McClurkans in Parker Square for 28 years. She made lasting friends there and was awarded 3 times for being the top sales person from both stores. On many occasions people would say, “Where have I seen you before?” and she would say, “Either at First Baptist Church or McClurkans.”
Peggy lost her dear son, Charles Turnbo of Salado, TX on January 30, 2009. Survivors are a daughter, Patricia Rhodes and husband Dusty of Carrollton, TX; grandsons, David Rhodes and wife Angela of Dallas, Jon Rhodes and wife Carrie of McKinney, Scott Turnbo and wife Ruth of Wichita Falls and Jeff Turnbo and wife Shannon of Wichita Falls; granddaughters: Cindy Hathaway of Edmond, OK and Meghan Rainwater of Austin, TX; daughters-in-law, Beverly Turnbo of Salado, TX, Reggie Milam and husband Sammy of Wichita Falls. She loved her precious great grandchildren, Emilie Rhodes, Madeleine Rhodes, Katie Rhodes, Charleigh Rhodes, Rayna Turnbo, Jesse Turnbo, Adam Turnbo, Tyler Turnbo, Sydney Hathaway and Leah Hathaway.
