Ford R Davis

He was born December 29, 1948 to Bruce Gordon Davis and Mary Virginia Jackson Davis in Austin, TX. He spent his early formative years in Rockport, TX before living three years near Livorno, Italy while his father served in the Army. His family then relocated to Houston, TX where Ford graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1966.

On January 25, 1974, he married the love of his life, Mary Ann Miller Davis, beginning a partnership that would span 52 years.

Ford graduated from Texas A&M University as a member of The Corps of Cadets Company H-1 Athletes in 1971 as a Distinguished Military Student before beginning an exemplary 20-year career in the United States Army Medical Service Corps. He served from August 2,1971, until his retirement on August 31, 1991. During his military career, he earned Special Forces Officer and Airborne qualifications and received numerous honors for his leadership and service, including three Army Commendation Medals, two Meritorious Service Medals, the Army Achievement Medal, and the Legion of Merit.

Following his retirement from the Army, Ford dedicated another two decades to his career as a Supply Chain Manager in the HCA Association serving the Friendswood and Alvin communities. Beyond his professional life, he invested his time in the people around him. He coached youth soccer for the Friendswood Mighty Ducks and found great joy in teaching his daughters, but also anyone eager to learn the safe and responsible use of rifles and pistols. Whether mentoring, coaching, or sharing a skill, Ford believed in helping others grow with confidence and discipline.

He was an avid genealogist, to the point that it sometimes drove the family crazy! He could easily recall names, dates, and events for family members a minimum of seven generations back. He loved meeting new people and connecting over shared interests.

Ford is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Mary Ann and his two beloved daughters, Maranda Revell and her husband, Will, of Holliday, TX, and Amy Phillips and her husband, Tim, of Monument, CO. He is further survived by his brother, Barton Bolling Davis, and wife, Ann of Southlake, TX, his sister, Katherine Norvell McLendon, and husband, Paul, of Caldwell, TX, as well as other nieces, nephews, and cousins he loved so dearly. His greatest joy was his five grandchildren: Gatlynn and Bellamy Revell, and Hannah, Emily, and Tyler Phillips, who will forever cherish his love, guidance, and example.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Crestview Memorial Park, in Wichita Falls on August 8, 2026 at 2:00 in the afternoon.
