

Helen L. Lucas, 90, a longtime resident of Abilene, TX passed away Wednesday, August 12, 2015 in Wichita Falls, TX. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home, Wichita Falls with Richard David officiating. Graveside Services and interment will be at 2:00 PM in the Garden of Prayer at Elmwood Memorial Park, Abilene, TX.
Ms Lucas was born in Gorman, TX on November 6, 1924 to Charles Thomas Lucas and Susie Beatrice (Westmoreland) Lucas. She graduated from Eastland, TX High School, attended Texas Christian University and later graduated from Brantley-Draughon Business College. Prior to moving to Abilene in 1953, Helen worked for the Coca-Cola Bottling Co. in Eastland. In Abilene, she was employed with Roark and Hooker Independent Oil Operators as Office Manager and Bookkeeper from 1953 until her retirement in 1992. Helen was an active member of First Baptist Church of Abilene where she was a member of the sanctuary choir. She also was a volunteer at the Abilene Baptist Association Social Ministries. She was a member of the Desk and Derrick Club of Abilene and the American Business Woman’s Association. Helen was a great games player and especially enjoyed ‘42’.
Helen was preceded in death by her mother Beatrice Lucas on April, 15, 1980 by her father, Charles T. Lucas, Sr. on November 14, 1987; also her brother, Charles T. Lucas, Jr.
She is survived by a niece, Debra David and husband Richard of Liberty Township, Ohio and by a sister-in-law, Julia Lucas of Wichita Falls.
