Graveside Military Honors will be held at 11 AM, Tuesday, January 17, 2017, at Fort Sill National Cemetery.
Irving was born on April 9, 1926 in Rockford, Illinois to Benjamin and Mildred Elizabeth Kennard Van Riper. He served in the U.S. Army from 1949 until 1968, retiring as Lt. Colonel. He also was a Mason and a historian of World War 2. He loved to travel all over the world, making many friends on his travels. He was very proud of his Million Mile Mark with American Airlines. He was preceded in death by his brothers: Donald, George and William Van Riper.
Survivors include his children: Irving K. Van Riper and wife Karen of San Marcos, California, Richard Van Riper of Tucson, Arizona, and Dr. James Van Riper and wife Marcy of Odessa, Texas; and grandchildren: Kyle Van Riper, Chase Van Riper, and Conner Van Riper.
