James T. Sewell

James Travis Sewell, 87, passed away at his home in Wichita Falls, TX, on February 16, 2021. Born on March 19, 1933, in Parnell, TX, James was the son of Jessie L. Sewell of Pampa, TX, and Emma Sewell Bain of Wichita Falls, TX. He joined the U.S. Navy at the age of 18 and proudly served for 20 years before retiring with the rank of Master Chief. He spent the next 30 years of his life employed by Sheppard AFB in civil service before retiring in Wichita Falls.

He was the husband of Carolyn Joy Martin Sewell, whom he married on October 11, 1956. They were just shy of their 50th wedding anniversary when she preceded him in death in 2006. James was also preceded in death by two siblings, Atha Lee Pearce and Grover S. Sewell, both of Wichita Falls, TX. He is survived by his younger sister Regina Roy of Sacramento, CA.

Children include James C. Sewell and wife Marisa Valles of Wichita Falls, TX; Mark E. Sewell; Lisa Bean of Wichita Falls, TX; and Kelly Sewell of Wichita Falls, TX. Grandchildren include Konnie Sewell of Wichita Falls, TX; Jacob Sewell and wife Sabrina of Houston, TX; Caleb Bean and wife Kiersten of Wichita Falls, TX; Travis Wolfe of Wichita Falls, TX; Mark Wolfe of Wichita Falls, TX; and Alondra Valles of Wichita Falls, TX. Great-grandchild is Dean Wolfe. James is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Viewing and visitation will be from 6pm to 8pm on March 1 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX. Funeral service will be held on March 2 at 10am at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home in Wichita Falls, TX with interment following at Crestview Memorial Park in Wichita Falls, TX.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
