She was born on April 30, 1928, in Cherokee County, Texas, to Walter D. Vest and Clara Tillman Vest, one of seven children. She graduated from Stamford High School in Stamford, Texas, and later moved to Wichita Falls. She married Leonard Hoppe on March 21st, 1946, and to this union were born two children, Ray and Karen.
Jewel dedicated her life to being a wife, mother and homemaker, and carried out those duties while working two jobs. She demonstrated the highest of moral and ethical standards, and maintained her life principles in spite of the difficulties she faced during her lifetime.
She was affiliated with the Jehovah’s Witness denomination.
Jewel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Leonard, three sisters, three brothers, and son-in-law Chuck Moeller.
Those remaining to cherish her memory are son Ray Hoppe; daughter Karen Sue Hoppe; grandchildren Mark Hoppe and Stephanie Rae Hoppe, and several great grandchildren.
A celebration of Jewel’s life will be held on Saturday, December 14th, at 1:00 PM, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation is scheduled on Saturday, December 14th, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00-1:00 PM.
The family has requested that memorials may be made to Hospice Plus.
