Jimmie Glenn Cook, 78, of Wichita Falls, TX, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 17, 2012. Services have been scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 22, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel officiated by his son, Pastor David Butler. Interment with military honors will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Jim was born and raised in Carthage, Missouri in 1933 before later moving to Chicago in his late teens. He was one of four children born to the late Clarence Cook & Lorraine Morris Cook and the beloved husband of Dorothy Cook for over 31 years. Jim will forever be remembered by his devoted brothers Butch, Buddy, Nicky, John, Mike & Danny, beloved children James “Jimbo” Cook, Misty Dawn Cook, Sherrie Cook, Billy Wayne Bradford, Benny Dean Bradford, Donald Lee Bradford & David Alan Butler. Jim also left a legacy of 13 grandchildren and 4 great-granddaughters.
After graduating High School from Manley High School in Chicago, Illinois, Jim served our country for over 20 years in the United States Air Force. During his last 14 years of service, Jim was a jet plane mechanic. Perhaps it was here he mastered the skill of being able to work on and fix anything.
Jim touched the lives of so many people with his smile, trademark “blue eyes” and his generosity. He was always helping someone & his home was continuously open to those in need. In fact, he along with his wife, fostered numerous children throughout the years, and even had his kids and grand kids live with them in their times of need. Jim absolutely loved to laugh, tell & play jokes. He maintained his sense of humor all the way up until the time of his passing.
Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his parents, and son, Jim Cook.
Visitation will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 21, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
If desired, memorials may be made to Lake Arrowhead Volunteer Fire Department.
