Joan Elizabeth Chapel was a beloved sister, wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother during her wonderful 86 years of life. She passed away on January 17, 2022, at her home in Wichita Falls, Texas. She was preceded in death by her brother John King, her son-in-law Paul Comstock, Sr, and her husband Maurice Chapel, Sr of 41 years.
Joan was born on December 14, 1935, in Minneola, New York to parents Norman and Irene King. She was the oldest of 3 children. She married the love of her life on July 5, 1953, at the First Presbyterian Church of Minneola on Minneola, Long Island.
Joan loved to keep her mind sharp with word searches and crosswords and worked on her crafts whenever she could. She always had a good mystery or romance book next to her that she gladly shared with her granddaughter. Joan loved to be surrounded by her family, especially during the holidays.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Maurice Chapel, Jr and his son Michael, her daughter Debra Farina and her husband Daniel and their children, Nicki Farina and her husband Edwin Rodriguez, Zach Farina and his wife Olivia, Shawna Boutwell, Dylan Farina and his daughter Kaiden. Her son Scott Chapel and his wife Victoria and their children, Christina Essler, Patricia Essler, Andrew Liley, and his wife Cerina, who are expecting their first child, and Nicole Chapel. Her daughter Pamela Comstock and her children, Steven Chapel, Mark Chapel, Kymberlie Comstock, Christian Comstock, Paul Jr Comstock, and her 18 great-grandchildren, and her sister Carol Cichocki.
Family and friends will gather at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Hwy Wichita Falls, Texas on Thursday, January 27 for visitation from 6 pm to 8 pm and the funeral service will be held on Friday, January 28 at 1 pm.
