JoAnne was born and raised in Philadelphia, PA. She graduated with honors from Nazareth Academy and then Nazareth Hospital's School of Medical Technology where she received her certification in this field.
JoAnne satisfied her desire to travel by moving from Philadelphia to Wichita Falls where she became a Medical Laboratory Technician for Bethania Hospital. In 1972 she graduated from Midwestern State University, Summa Cum Laude Bachelor of Science Degree and was that year's recipient of the Biology Achievement Award. For years she served as Associate Faculty for MSU's Medical Laboratory Technologist Associate Degree Program. She served as Laboratory Director at United Regional Healthcare Center for many years until her retirement in 1988.
JoAnne lived a full and blessed life. Her first marriage produced her proudest achievements, her children, Christine Andrews and Richard Andrews of Wichita Falls. Her second marriage was to Charles Bevering, a Clay County farmer and rancher. This loving union lasted 44 years, until Charles' death in 2013.
During her life she loved to travel and had the unique opportunity to live in Israel for 2 years in the 1950's. She volunteered to teach swimming and was a Water Safety Instructor for the local Red Cross. She had many hobbies, including reading, sewing, oil painting and stained glass projects.
JoAnne is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Clara Cummings of Philadelphia, PA; her sisters, Nancy Criscolo of Brigantine, New Jersey and Elaine Doyle of Philadelphia, PA; and her beloved husband, Charles Bevering, of Wichita Falls.
She leaves behind her children; Christine Andrews ad Richard Andrews of Wichita Falls; her niece Lynn McLain of Chesterland, Ohio; and two great nieces.
The family would like to express their appreciation and gratitude to her many friends, especially Don and Betty Huston, Don and Jean Massie, and her caregiver, Pam Coats. We would also like to thank her sister-in-law, Louise Smith, of Pampa, Texas and brother-in-law, Joe Bevering, of Charlie, Texas for their support.
