He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas on September 10, 1959. He was the second child born to Gerald Eugene (Jerry) Kaufhold and Treva Jeannett (Harper) Kaufhold.
As a boy he loved animals and playing baseball and was an excellent pitcher. He attended Rider High School and graduated in 1978. He went on to retire from TDCJ.
He loved his westerns, and John Wayne was a particular favorite. He also loved music and his dear cat that he took in. He showed strength of character and a Christian spirit in the face of his health challenges, and he will be dearly missed.
Joe is survived by his mother, Jeannett Kaufhold, sisters Vicky Herchman and Kathy Fredline along with a niece and nephew, his children Michael Kaufhold, Skylan Tucker, and Crystal Kaufhold and seven grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and father Jerry Kaufhold.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at 1:00 at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home & Memorial Park followed by a graveside service at 2:00.
