Joe Silva

Joe Silva, 71, passed away on July 28, 2026, in his home, surrounded by family. Born May 23, 1955, Joe was the son of Fernando and Esther Silva, and he was born in Socorro, New Mexico. He later made his home in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he built a life marked by steady devotion, quiet bravery, and a loyalty that could be counted on without question.

Joe graduated from Socorro High School in 1973 and soon after answered the call to serve, joining the United States Air Force. He served from 1973 to 1999, a long and honorable career defined by integrity and selfless commitment. In 2001, Joe continued his working life in Civil Service in Wichita Falls, retiring in 2023 after years of dependable service and honest effort.

In 2001, Joe met Deborah in Wichita Falls, and they were married in March of 2006. Together they became an instant family, including Deborah’s children, daughter Brittany and son Nick. In the home they built, Joe’s steadfast care and cherished presence were felt in the everyday moments—through the constancy of showing up, the sincerity of his words, and the warmth of his humor.

Joe found joy in simple pleasures and the company of those he loved. He was an avid golfer, and if there was a chance to play, he took it. He also loved watching Westerns, and he especially treasured the times when the grandkids came over—moments that brought out his generous spirit and his delight in spoiling them.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Esther Silva, and his sister, Barbara Silva. He is survived by his wife, Deborah; daughter Brittany Atkinson; son Nick Collado; grandchildren Hayley, Chris, Brendon, Kurstin; great-grandson Josiah; sisters Rosemary Baca and Linda Lopez; brother Mike Silva; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family extends special thanks to Healing Hands Hospice for the care given to Joe during his final days.
