

A celebration of life will be held at 1:00pm, Saturday, February 6, 2021 at First United Methodist Church, 909 Travis, allowing space for safe distancing between those who are comfortable attending. The family requests that attendees wear a mask. In an effort to be safe, a traditional visitation will not be held. Burial will follow the service at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park. Joyce will lay in state at the funeral home until the service.
Joyce was born on January 4, 1932, in Lake Creek, Tx to Alton and Lena (Anderson) Goolsby. She married the love of her life, J. B. Barham on October 13, 1950 and moved to Wichita Falls in 1953. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church from 1954 to 2018 when she became homebound at the Gables of Rolling Meadows. She served in various positions with the Win-Some Sunday School Class which she regularly attended for 65 years. Joyce and J. B. served as youth counselors at the church as their 4 children progressed through the youth program. She worked for the church as the director of the kitchen staff for many years. She followed that as the Coordinator for the YES (Young Energetic Seniors) Committee planning numerous events, activities and trips until her retirement in 2009. In May 1996, the church established the J. B. & Joyce Barham Award for Dedicated Service to recognize outstanding volunteers. Joyce continued volunteering for the church and was also active in the Wichita County Republican Women, the Wichita Falls Symphony League and was a faithful attendee at MSU Basketball games holding season tickets for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, J. B.; by her parents Alton & Lena Goolsby; her brothers Wilbur and Curbe Goolsby; her sisters Lanette Tull, and Martha Magouirk; her daughter-in-law Jolynn Barham; and by her great-granddaughter Tatum Barham.
She is survived by her sons, Glenn and wife Mary Lynne of Wichita Falls, Charles and wife Deniese of Holliday, Paul and wife Carolyn of Lake Arrowhead, by her daughter Vicki and husband Mike McCarty of Wichita Falls, and by her German son Juergen Keller who was an exchange student living with Joyce and J. B. in 1969/70. Surviving grandchildren are Erin Pinney and husband Andy of Sgt. Bluff, Iowa; Brad Barham and wife Stephanie of Abilene, Tx; Riley Barham and wife Cherith of Mineral Wells, Tx; Casey Barham and wife Kendal of Holliday, Tx; Whitney Phinyawatana and husband Ink of Dallas, Tx; Melinda Beutel and husband Daniel of Jenks, Ok; Mollie Lewis of Colorado Springs, Co; and Morgan Lewis of Nashville, TN; sisters Leetta Goolsby and Judy Fowler of Quinlan, Tx and Ravanelle Choate of Mesquite, Tx; and 11 great-grandchildren and numerous nephews, nieces and friends.
The family would like to thank the kind, caring staff at the Gables of Rolling Meadows and the staff of Hospice of Wichita Falls.
