

Joyce Elaine Clymer was born November 20, 1928, in Norfolk, Virginia, and went to be with the Lord January 6, 2025 at the age of 96. She was a devoted wife and mother, and very much loved her grandchildren and her 9 great grandchildren. Joyce attended Wayland Baptist University, where she met her husband Richard and made a host of lifelong friends. Joyce was involved in church ministry in Oklahoma, Colorado, New Mexico and Texas for more than 70 years. She faithfully shared the gospel of Christ with all who would listen, taught hundreds of children about God and discipled and cared for many who became as close as family. Joyce spent the majority of her adult life supporting missions through the Women’s Mission Union and served as a Missionary to the Native American peoples for more than 30 years. She was the author of two books about her life, Angel in the Moon and Nannie’s House. She received the Woman’s Missionary Union Enchantment Award for her New Mexico Service and was given a Lifetime Service Award from Jemez Valley Baptist Church where she was a member. Joyce treasured her family and friends, and spent many hours sending loving cards and letters to them.
She was preceded in death by her mother Madge Taylor, her husband Rev. Richard Clymer and her son David Monroe Clymer.
She is survived by her sister Carol Lukitsch (husband, Joe) of Cortez, FL, and niece Courtney; three sons: Tom (wife, Nicole) of Panama City, FL; John (wife, Gayla) of Abilene, TX; and Daniel (wife, Denise) of Cañon, NM; two grandsons: Jeremiah Clymer and Ryan Ekstrand; five granddaughters: Randee Wredt (husband, Wesley) of Blair, NE with children Kynzie, Kynnedi and Lincoln; Deveney Salo (husband, Colton) of Billings, MT and daughter Bexlee; Haylee Fuller and sons Asher and Beau; Miranda Moreno and children Azaeli and Ayden; and Delilah De Leon and son Zaylen.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel in Wichita Falls, TX on January 16th followed by her burial at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Memorial Park. A Memorial Service will be held at Jemez Valley Baptist Church in Canon, New Mexico, at 10:00 am on February 1st.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to a memorial fund in her name at the Jemez Valley Baptist Church.
