

Juan G. Chavez, 85, a longtime resident of Wichita Falls passed away Friday October 16, 2015. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Monday at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Pastor Simon Flores officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4:00 until 6:00 Sunday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Chavez was born February 16, 1930 in Denver, Colorado to Luciano and Isabell Chavez. He married Lupe Taylor on July 24, 1950 in Knox City, TX and they recently celebrated their 65th anniversary. Juan worked for Wichita County Pct#1 for over 30 years as a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Primera Iglesia Bautista and had a strong faith in God. He was an excellent craftsman and loved to make and build all kinds of things. Juan was always smiling. He liked to travel, loved western wear and enjoyed watching ‘Bonanza’. Juan also enjoyed dining at the Jalapeno Tree and watching Texas Rangers baseball. He dearly loved all his family and spending time with them.
Juan was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jane Sapata; grandsons, Ernest Chavez, Jr. and Jonathan Amaya; also three brothers and four sisters.
Survivors are his loving wife, Lupe Chavez; daughters, Molly Martinez and husband Fred of Wichita Falls and Mary Esther Amaya and husband Mike of Fort Hood, TX; sons, Ernest Chavez and wife Anita and Rick Chavez and wife Michelle, all of Wichita Falls; 15 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 5 great- great grandchildren.
