Soon after meeting Earl Murphy, they married, thus starting her life as a military spouse. She was proud of the military life and was always happy to tell anyone who was willing to listen, and a few who may have been not so willing, about the places she had seen and the lifelong friends she had made because of this life. Kathy and Earl celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary July 18th just prior to Earls passing Dec. 26th, 2005.
Kathy truly enjoyed music, so much so that she started piano lessons when she was in her 50’s. But Kathy’s true passion was reading. Go to her home to visit and you would always find 3 to 4 books, bookmarks in place at various stages in each book, scattered in different rooms of the house. Her love for reading led her to one of her greatest joys, volunteering for The Adult Literary Council teaching others to read.
Kathy passed Dec. 28th, 2023, and is proceeded in death by her 4 siblings, Henry Williams, Lee Williams, Caroline Lemmon, Teresa Ferguson, and 2 granddaughters, Audra and Kari Swift.
She is survived by her 3 children, Linda Webber, Blane Murphy, and Brian Murphy. 6 grandchildren, Matthew Swift, Jennifer Murphy, Erin Murphy Fike, Brandi Osmer, Jacob Murphy, and Joshua Murphy. 5 great grandchildren, Hannah Jameson, Makayla Luna, Ashtyn Holifield, Micheal Murphy, and Wyatt Murphy. Kathy will be missed by her family, extended family, and many, many friends.
Services will be Jan. 5th, 2024, 10:00 am, at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home Chapel, 1917 Archer City Hwy. Graveside service to follow at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Cemetery.
As Kathy was a Member of Beverly Drive United Methodist Church, she asked that any and all memorials go to the church.
