LaVerne Arnold, age 98, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning, November 7, 2017, in Wichita Falls, Texas. Funeral services will be at 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 10, 2017 at Wesley United Methodist Church with the Reverend Cheryl Murray officiating. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. LaVerne was born on April 1, 1919, in Wichita Falls, Texas to Henry Leonard Null and Edna Eula Jones Null. Laverne Arnold was a retired W.F.I.S.D. schoolteacher. She taught History for many years at Ben Milam Elementary school before she transferred to Barwise Jr. High and later McNiel Jr. High. Teaching was an important part of LaVerne’s life. Until her death, she has maintained close touch with many of her students, and one of her most prized possessions her box of every gradebook she ever used. LaVerne was a lifelong member of Wesley United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and was a member of Women of Wesley. LaVerne was a staunch Texas Rangers fan, never missing a game on TV during the season, and had an uncanny knowledge of all the MLB West players, their abilities, and statistics. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 59 years, Robert L. (Bob) Arnold; her parents; and one sister. Survivors include a sister, Dorothy Cherry from Edna, Texas; daughter Fran Arnold Bryant; son Bobby Arnold and his mate Mercè Fernandez Comas and her son Pep. Also surviving are four grandchildren and their spouses, Andrea LeeAnn and Bobby Faulkner; Julie and Brandon Dishman; Greg and Mindy Bryant; and Mindy and Richard Duncan. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, whom she adored; her cherished friend Cyndie Murphy Arnold, and numerous beloved nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 9, 2017 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. For those desiring, memorial contributions may be sent to Wesley United Methodist Church.
