

Lawrence F. Blackmon, Sr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and proud American, was born on August 1st, 1946, in Wichita Falls, Texas. He passed away on March 12th, 2026, surrounded by loved ones. He leaves behind a legacy defined by service, strength, and unwavering loyalty to his family and country.
He honorably served in the United States Navy for 23 years, during which he traveled the world, experiencing different cultures and building lifelong bonds with the men and women he served beside. His time in the Navy shaped him deeply, instilling a steadfast sense of duty, honor, and patriotism. After retiring from the Navy, he returned to Wichita Falls and continued his commitment to service through a long and successful career in government contracting, working diligently until his retirement.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elvira; his daughter, Roberta; his sister, Jannie Earthman; his grandchildren, Wesley, Alexandra, Lexi, Mara, Ethan, Isabella, and Lawrence III; and his great-granddaughter, Addilynn. Each of them carries forward a part of his spirit, humor, and strength.
He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Lawrence Jr.; his mother, Ouida; his brothers, Ronald and Donald; and his sister, Earline. Their memories reunited with him now offer comfort to those who miss him here.
A fierce supporter of the military, Lawrence took immense pride in defending the freedoms he cherished. He enjoyed firearms, valued responsibility and discipline, and never hesitated to help anyone who needed him. He was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan and collector of Cowboys memorabilia. He found great satisfaction in working on cars, loved RVing and the freedom of the open road, enjoyed country music, and also liked to stay engaged with politics, keeping up with current events, and sharing his thoughts with passion and conviction.
A Celebration of Life will be held on April 20th at Lucy Park at 3:00 PM, where family and friends are invited to gather, share memories, and honor the life of a remarkable man.
Lawrence will be remembered for his courage, his dedication to family, and his lifelong commitment to service. His presence will be deeply missed, and the impact he made will endure in the lives of all who knew and loved him.
