

She was born on March 23, 1933 in the country close to White City, Texas and lived most of her life in Wichita Falls with her late husband, Virgil Elmo Patton.
Anita loved books and children. She received a bachelor’s degree from North Texas State University and served as librarian at both Kate Burgess and Austin Elementary schools in Wichita Falls. She married Elmo and they were blessed with a son, Terry Keith. Anita and her family were long-time members of the Odell Church in Odell, Texas. She loved her time with her church family there.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Elmo Patton; her parents, Garland and Audna Shults and her brother, Keith Shults.
Anita is survived by her sister, Emma Baker, of Burkburnett and son, Terry Keith Patton and his wife, Suesan Catlett Patton of Wichita Falls. Anita also had two grandchildren—Geneva Corwin who lives in Vineyard Haven, MA with her husband and two great-grandchildren, Snow and Aurora and Chessie Monks-Kelly, who lives with her husband in Saranac Lake, NY.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10, at 2:00 P.M. at Hampton Vaughn Crestview Funeral Home, at 1917 Archer City Highway in Wichita Falls. A visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M.
Anita’s family is especially thankful to the wonderful staff at House of Hope—Evergreen. She counted many there as her dear friends.
