Loretta Dee (Armstrong) Filler, 83, passed away on August 3, 2026. Born May 28, 1943, in Cleburne, Texas, Loretta was the daughter of William Drayton Armstrong and Nettie Pauline (Whitehead) Armstrong, and she spent her life devoted to faith, family, and the steady work of caring for others. Loretta resided in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Loretta attended school in Glen Rose and Seagraves, Texas, before moving to Loop, Texas, where she graduated from high school. She received a small scholarship to attend business school in Levelland, Texas, and later moved to Lubbock, Texas for work. In Lubbock, she met the love of her life, Ralf Filler. They were married in June 1963 in Lubbock, while Ralf was stationed at Reese Air Force Base. Together they welcomed their first daughter, then later moved to Seagraves, Texas, where two more daughters completed their family of five.
In 1980, Ralf and Loretta moved to Wichita Falls, Texas, where she began a long and faithful career as a bookkeeper for Production Credit Associations. After 25 years of service, she retired, leaving behind a legacy of reliability and quiet competence—someone who could be counted on, who met responsibilities with care, and who brought order and steadiness to every task set before her.
Loretta’s hands were rarely still. She found joy in gardening, sewing, crocheting, and knitting, and she carried a remarkable ability to make, mend, and create—doing “anything you put in front of her,” as those who loved her often said. She was a dedicated mother, gardener, seamstress, and housewife, and she spent 63 years with Ralf building a life rooted in commitment and love. Her pride in her grandchildren was evident to all, and her devotion to family ran deep.
A faithful member of the Crestview Church of Christ, Loretta lived with enduring conviction and a gracious spirit. As the matriarch of her family, she leaves a lasting imprint—one of steadfast love, strength, and presence that will be profoundly missed.
Loretta was preceded in death by her parents, William and Nettie Armstrong.
Loretta is survived by her loving husband, Ralf Filler; children LaDonna Beasley and husband Dwayne, Angela Stewart, and Janene Thomas; sister Barbara Williams and husband Lee; grandchildren Deeana Nichols, Daniel Beasley, Heather Mears, Kelsey Nelson, Amelia Harris, Sarah Kohlmeyer, and Jacob Thomas; and seven great-grandchildren.
