How does one memorialize human sunshine? How do you capture the awe—or, as Madison would say, “aaaawwww”—of a four-year-old free spirit?
Madison found wonder everywhere. In water, trees, leaves dancing in the wind, the moon, the stars, and all the little things the rest of us sometimes forget to notice. She experienced the world completely and entirely as herself, and anyone lucky enough to know her got to experience a little of that wonder too.
Madison was loved. Madison was love.
She will be missed with every giggle and belly laugh, every rustle of leaves, every bubble floating through the air, and every beautiful night sky.
Madison will be forever loved and missed by her mom and dad, Doreen and Sean Marshall; her big sister, Callie Marshall; and countless family members, friends, clinicians, and RBTs who entered her life in different ways but became something much more like family.
Four years was nowhere near enough. But Madison filled those four years with a kind of joy and love that will remain with us for a lifetime.
The world was brighter with Madison in it, and we will keep looking for pieces of her light everywhere.
