Merval was born on September 1, 1928 in Henrietta, Texas to R.E. and Josephine Evans Staton. She married Marvin Edgmon on November 14, 1981 in Wichita Falls. He preceded her in death on September 23, 2005. She was also preceded by her parents: R. E and Josephine Staton; her brother: Clifford Staton; and her sister: Lorene Foster.
She had lived in Henrietta and Wichita Falls all her life and loved sewing, shopping for antiques, and time with her family and friends. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Wichita Falls and was a member of the Discovery Sunday School Class. She spent the last few years of her life under the care of the Gables at Rolling Meadows, surrounded by many Friends and Family. She was very blessed to have a steady stream of Visitors and truly loved the attention and care of all who came.
The family is very grateful to the Friends and Family who came for their constant visits. The Family also wants to recognize and thank the loving staff at The Gables at Rolling Meadows for their pampering, unending doting care and love that was shown to her.
In addition to the care of Rolling Meadows – Hospice played a very big role in her comfort. They say the “Third time is a charm”; Merval was admitted to Hospice 3 times. The Hospice staff told us she was their poster child – The family believes it is an example of the excellent care she received from the staff and most Importantly God’s plan that she stay a little longer. However, the Third time God was ready for her and she was tired.
Survivors include her sons: Wayland Threadgill, Jr. and wife Karon of Irving and David Threadgill and wife Christie of Henrietta; sister: Melba Cooper; grandchildren: Gina Hodge and husband Jason, Dean Threadgill and wife Heather, D.J. Dickey and wife Sarah; and great-grandchildren: Mason Threadgill, Olivia Threadgill, Bailey Hodge, Tessa Berend, Ryane Dickey, Brylan Dickey, and Addy Dickey.
