

She was the middle of 5 children who grew up going between Wichita Falls and Bowie. They moved often because of the depression. At age 5 Minnie Lou and her younger brother contracted diphtheria. It took her brother Verl but Minnie Lou miraculously survived. At age 7 she made a decision to follow Christ and never looked back. As a child she picked cotton to help the family pay bills. She was very studious and graduated from Bowie High School at age 16.
She then went to Bethany Peniel Nazarene College in Oklahoma for 1 year.
She lived with family and worked 2 jobs to afford college. After one year it was no longer financially feasible to continue so she moved back to Wichita Falls and became very active with the large young adult group at Wichita Falls First Church of the Nazarene. It was there she met a handsome airman, Richard Sabine, who became the love of her life for over 70 years.
She worked as a bookkeeper for several years before assuming her favorite role of mother. She had 2 boys, David and Bruce, followed several years later adopting a daughter, Linda.They kept her busy with church, school and sports. Summers were filled with camping and long trips to Maine. Minnie Lou loved Bible Study and taught in some capacity almost all of her adult life. She also had a passion for being a disciple and meeting new Christians in their homes to help guide them in their faith.
Later in life,she went back to bookkeeping at Wilson Manufacturing Employee Credit Union. She helped merge the credit union with Texoma Credit Union and stayed on working at Texoma until she retired.
After retiring, Minnie Lou and her husband,Richard,stayed busy helping at the church and traveling. Almost all their trips revolved around visiting family and grandchildren. She took her role as grandmother very seriously. She was purposeful to spend time with each one of them. She continued to teach Bible Study into her 80s.
Minnie Lou is survived by her sons, David Sabine (wife Nesha) and Bruce Sabine (wife Cathy); daughters, Kay Sabine and Linda Bechtold (husband Chris); 14 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
