Neal Ray Sanders went home to be with his Lord March 14 following a three-year battle with cancer. Ray was born in Wichita Falls to Bailey and Florence Sanders on June 25, 1945. He went to school in Midway and grew up in Deercreek, later serving in the United States Marines. He worked for the City of Wichita Falls for 27 years, retiring as Director of Information Technology in 2005.
Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Naomi Fortenot and JoAnn Harris; and his step-daughter, Tana Hilley Cope. Ray is survived by his wife of 25 years, Daphne Humphrey Sanders; his brother George Sanders; his sister, Mary Lou Duggan; his step-daughter Monica Horton and her husband Ricky; his step-son-in-law Gregg Cope; five grandchildren – Sawyer and Ethan Horton; Dalton and Jarrett Hilley; and Kendall Cope – and one great grandchild, Elaina Hilley.
Ray enjoyed hosting family get-togethers at his home in the country, 4th of July fireworks, and farming.
Visitation with Family will be Friday, March 16, 2017 from 5:00 - 7:00pm at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. A memorial service will be at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home on Saturday, March 17 at 12 Noon, with internment immediately following at Crestview Memorial Park.
