Patsy Britt Needham left this world and was welcomed into heaven on Thursday, February 15, 2024. Patsy was born in Fort Worth, Texas on March 15,1932. As a member of Theta Rho, Independent Order of Odd Fellows, she learned at a young age the importance of service to others.
Patsy graduated from Poly High School in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1950, and later studied art at Midwestern University.
She married her true love Corliss Lee Needham on March 16, 1951. They were blessed to spend 58 years together. Those years were filled with many travels and journeys provided by the U.S. Air Force. Wherever they were, they were involved in their local church including Lamar Baptist, Fairway Baptist (charter members), First Baptist Church of Duncanville, and Faith Baptist Church of Wichita Falls. While stationed in the Canal Zone, they were members of Balboa Heights Baptist Church in Balboa, Panama. Patsy’s church involvement consisted of co-teaching adult Sunday school classes with her husband, working in Vacation Bible Schools, director for Girls’ Auxiliary, Senior Choir, Christian Women’s Meetings and WMU. Other activities she enjoyed were women’s bowling and softball leagues, Women’s Home Demonstration Club and Craft Class at Faith Baptist Church. Patsy was also active with the AARP group and the Senior Zone at the Wichita Falls Activity Center. She loved watching the news and keeping up with current events.
Patsy worked as a bank teller in her younger years before becoming a mother. Later, she worked in the registration department for Vernon Junior College for several years. She also sold Avon, which she enjoyed, because it allowed her to know people on a personal level. Her favorite position in life was serving God, being a loving and supportive wife and a nurturing and encouraging mother. Life situations called for her to be a wonderful caregiver for her mother and step-father and eventually for her husband, Corliss. She was so happy and proud to be called “grandma” by her grandchildren, and given the name “GG” by her great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Mary Belle Moncrief Britt Dove and Roy Britt, step-father Jesse Dove, her husband Corliss Lee Needham, great-grandson Max Samples and a son-in-law, Glenn Monk. She is survived by her three daughters and their husbands and children: daughter, Corliss Ann Needham Monk Rhoades and husband, Curtis; grandson, David Monk and wife Veronica and two great-grandchildren; granddaughter, Deborah Lynn Monk Samples and husband, Nicholas; great-grandchildren Alexander and Abi; and granddaughter Diana Monk; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Needham Wuthrich and husband, Kenneth; Grandson, Benjamin Aaron Wuthrich and wife Jen, great-grandchildren Bailey, Sawyer, and Sadler, and Chloe and Camille Pak; grandson, Brian Andrew Wuthrich and wife Brittany, great-grandchildren Emma, Ryder and Briar; grandson, Blake Anthony Wuthrich and wife Kaloni; great-grandchildren Avery, Cooper, and Dylan; granddaughter, Blair Wuthrich, great-grandchildren Gage, Brodie, and Kinley; daughter Carrie Jean Needham Amador and husband, Hector; grandson Henry and granddaughter Hailey. She is also survived by nieces, a nephew and her special best friends.
Her contagious smile and laughter will be missed by many. Patsy loved hearing and telling jokes. She enjoyed reading the comics and the daily devotion in the local newspaper. Reading and sharing both of these brought her such happiness. Reflecting and passing on her life stories with her family delighted her endlessly. Anyone who knew Patsy would have to agree that she was a true prayer warrior and loved to pray. She will be sorely missed by her entire family.
A visitation for Patsy will be held Monday, February 26, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Hampton Vaughan Crestview Funeral Home, 1917 Archer City Highway, Wichita Falls, Texas 76302, followed by a chapel funeral service at 2:00 PM.
