Phyllis was born September 30, 1930 to Phillip Hartley Boyd and Olivia Clarissa Olsen Boyd in Port Chester, New York.
Phyllis married John Lawson in 1953 in White Plains, New York. While she resided in New York, she earned an art degree from the New York Art Institute, which she used for many years as a freelance artist. She was a member of the Gallery LA Luz in New Mexico for many years. In addition to her love of art, Phyllis loved riding horses, was an avid swimmer and gardener, enjoyed traveling the world, and putting together puzzles.

She will be deeply missed by: Daughter Lynn (Lawson) Blake and Husband Jerry Blake; Son Col. Glen Lawson and wife Talaxe Lawson; Daughter Jan (Lawson) Gardin and husband Steven Gardin; Grandchildren; Amanda (Lawson) Burckhardt* and husband Alberto Burckhardt, Trina Lawson, Savanah Lawson, Gabriel Lawson, Chris Stephens and Wife Mary Gonzalez, Tara Stephens, Alex Stephens, Marc Gardin and Wife Andrea Gardin, Jacob Gardin and Wife Bree Gardin, and Thomas Gardin; Great-Grandchildren; Aria Stephens, Robert Stephens, Charlotte Gardin, and Lila Burckhardt.
