Riley Alton Skelton

Riley Alton Skelton, 88, passed away Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Wichita Falls. Funeral Services will be held at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bob Rogers, Pastor, First Assembly of God officiating. Graveside Services will follow at Crestview Memorial Park under the direction of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.

Mr. Skelton, a 40 year resident of Wichita Falls, was born on January 22, 1923 in Birmingham, Alabama to James Riley Skelton and Mary Adeline (Braselton) Skelton. He was a veteran of two wars, serving in WWII and also the Korean War. He retired from the United States Air Force and worked in civil service where he also retired. He married the love of his life, Mava Dean Gray on July 27, 1926. He was also a member of First Assembly of God where he loved attending church. He was a guitarist who loved music and loved his family. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Jean Pyle.

Surviving relatives include his wife, Mava Skelton of Wichita Falls; 6 children, Gary Skelton, Janice Penhollow, Ron Skelton, Karen Liss, John Skelton, and Mark Skelton all of Wichita Falls; 10 grandchildren and 13 Great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 PM to 8 PM on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Wichita Falls.
