

Roy L. Baker, 83, of Wichita Falls passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home with Reverend Ronnie Lawson officiating. Interment will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 until 7:30 Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Baker was born in Wichita County August 11, 1931 to the late Joe H. Baker and Emma (Woods) Baker. Roy entered the U. S. Army and served in Korea and was involved in testing in the nuclear bomb program in New Mexico in 1955 and was honorably discharged later that year. He was a member of the National Association of Atomic Veterans. He married Jimmie Edgemon on July 17, 1959 in Wichita Falls. Together they were members of Thornberry Baptist Church. Roy retired as a truck driver with Merchant Motor Lines.
Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Viola Bond, Stella Mabe, Frances Burleson and Treva Albon; brothers, Raymond Baker and Aubrey Baker.
Survivors are his loving wife, Jimmie (Edgemon) Baker; sons, Roy Glenn Baker and wife Shelly of Wichita Falls and Mark Edward Baker and wife Jenny of Kansas City, MO; sisters, Gloria Johnson and Lois Burleson; grandchildren, Rebecca King, Jacobi Baker, Makenzie Baker, Kelsie Baker and Cole Baker.
