Roy Webb Hammett

Roy W. Hammett, 76, of Wichita Falls, passed away Sunday, September 19, 2010. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM Wednesday, September 22, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 7:00 until 8:00 Tuesday evening at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Hammett was a longtime resident of Wichita Falls and was Baptist by faith. His primary occupation was a long distance truck driver but he was skilled at many construction trades. Roy served in the United States Navy from 1952 until 1959 assigned to the Seabees. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 169 in Wichita Falls. He was a good man and a good friend to many.

Survivors include a son, George Elliott of North Archer County; daughter, Patricia Merrill, Mena Arkansas; nephews, Raymond Russell of North Archer County and Pete Russell, Wichita Falls; niece, Elaine Harris of North Archer County; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Preceding him in death was his longtime companion and friend, Delores York in 2002.
