

R. L. McClure, 90 of Wichita Falls, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at his residence. He was born on June 20, 1920 in Copan, OK to the late Irving Wilson McClure and Melvia Mae Bricker McClure. He graduated from Barnsdall, OK High School in 1939 and worked for Jones and L. Supply Company from 1941-1942. In January, 1942 he joined the U.S. Air Force where he spent three years in the South Pacific before being discharged in September, 1945. He married Bonita Swalley on June 1, 1945 in Dewey OK. He went back to work for J & L later in 1945. He went into business for himself in 1960 at Oil Field Specialties and retired in 1986. R. L. was a longtime member of Sunnyside Baptist Church in Wichita Falls and a member of the American Legion Post #120.
He is survived by her daughter, Lou Taylor and husband Mark of Pierre, SD; son, Allen McClure and wife Jerrie of Wichita Falls and was grandfather to 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Bonita on April 1, 2008.
Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at the Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Charles West officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Serving as pallbearers will be Craig Daniels, Kevin Daniels, Jeff McClure, Mark DeWoody, Garrett Bischoff and Travis Tipton.
