Ms. Theresia (Terry) Maria Capps was taken into her eternal home of heaven from her residence in Wichita Falls Texas on Saturday May 31st, 2025 at the age of 60. She was born at Fort Hood to Gene and Katharina Arbuckle on August 12, 1964.
She is preceded in death by her father Gene H. Arbuckle and is survived by her mother Katharina Arbuckle and sisters Michelle Arbuckle and A. Arbuckle, her son pastor Kellen Capps, and daughter in law Ginny Capps, with their children Lexie and husband Nate Johnston, Dustin Rich, Ashlin, Shelbie, Mikey, and Joey Soito. Great grand children Raelynn, Georgia, and Baby girl Johnston. She is also survived by her daughter Anna Elizabeth Klein and son in law Joseph Klein with their children Noah, Mercy-Grace, Milton and Adam Klein.
Terry spent her formative years on the military base in Germany leaving a lasting love and connection to that country and her mother's family before moving with her family to Wichita Falls where she made her home until her marriage to Kevin Capps on December 18, 1982. She attended Harden Simmons and Howard Payne universities pursuing her love of literature and history. Before taking on the calling of her life as a loving mother, she followed her husband’s pastoral calling through North, Central, and West Texas joining him in ministering to the families and communities throughout the state before finally settling again in Wichita Falls at the conclusion of her marriage in 2003. After her marriage ended she found adventure and excitement in driving for a trucking company allowing her to fulfill a lifelong desire to travel, enjoying the many landmarks and historic places the United States had to offer. She then returned to Wichita Falls as a driving instructor at a trucking school and substitute teacher for Wichita Falls ISD, fulfilling her passion for teaching. After the closing of the trucking school she took a job for the AT&T call center before finally retiring due to deteriorating health and a desire to serve and care for her family. Her life’s mission was to love, and care for her family (even when they were being stinkers) no matter how badly a relationship seemed she never ceased in her desire to make repairs to it. She sought the best of others even to her own detriment. She had a tenacious love and would never let any animal or human who had entered her heart leave it. She was a counselor, friend, and support to anyone whom she thought needed it. A giver of kibble and purveyor of belly rubs, she cared for any animal she came across, making her the most adored pet owner on the planet. Her greatest joy was her children and grandchildren and she frequently dropped everything to travel to be a support or comfort to her family.
She is deeply loved and mourned and will always be remembered for her deep love, quirky sense of humor and tenacity, as well as her ability to sneak gifts and treats to the grand babies before innocently declaring that she had no idea they couldn’t have cake, and ice cream for dinner.
A celebration of life service will be held at Horizon Country Church 841 State Hwy 114 East, Olney ,Texas
Saturday June 14, 2025.
