Vicki Stockard Phipps was an angel here on earth. Although her life was short, she had an impact on so many. As mother, daughter, wife, sister, teacher and friend, she loved who and what she loved passionately and unconditionally.
Vicki forgave the unforgivable and found the good in all things. With each struggle and obstacle she found the beauty in it, and received the gift from it. After battling cancer she wrote in great detail how it had taught her to live, and later she wrote how losing her vision had taught her to see. She wanted so badly to write a book on what it was like to have dementia so that others would know more about the disease.
Vicki was composed of opposites: light hearted and fun loving, yet surprisingly sensitive and wonderfully perceptive. She was strong and determined, yet she could let go and give it to God.
She had to write and laugh and dance and sing. Her spirit was so strong that even when her brain was badly damaged, you could see her light. She knew how to have fun, and how to make you feel like you were the most special person on earth. She was a natural beauty from the day she was born; and now she has left this life to be in a healthy and perfect place.
Vicki wanted to live ─ but most of all she fought to let go ─ and to love ─ from an unfettered heart, that somehow touched us all.
"And when the day arrives, I'll become the sky and the sea will come to kiss me, for I am going home. Nothing can stop me now.”~ by Trent Reznor
