

Wayne Edward Sphon, 75, of Wichita Falls died Thursday, September 16, 2010 at his home with his family by his side. Services have been scheduled for 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 20, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home Chapel officiated by Reverend Merwin Turner of Floral Heights United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Crestview Memorial Park.
Wayne was born October 15, 1934 in Luxor, Pennsylvania to James and Minerva (Harshell) Sphon. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1953 and received an Honorable Discharge in 1957 and was a Warehousing Specialist with the 824th Supply Squadron at Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, TX. Since 1982, Wayne was a member of the Floral Heights United Methodist Church of Wichita Falls. He was a former employee of Kennametal, Inc. of Latrobe, PA; Foster Cathead (Joy Manufacturing) of Wichita Falls; Crestview Memorial Park; and Bethania Hospital where he retired in 1996.
Mr. Sphon is preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Essie Sphon Parfitt, Ethel Sphon Noel, baby Wilma Sphon; three brothers, James Sphon, Joseph Sphon, and Charles Sphon.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, June Ridsdale Sphon; daughters and sons-in-law, Robin and Craig Luffy of Dallas, TX, Daphne and Steve Borgman of Wichita Falls; grandchildren Jennifer Luffy Ortiz and husband, Freddie, Brian Luffy and wife, Katheryn, Stephany Borgman Cabrera and husband, Chico, Andrea Borgman; great-granddaughter, Megan Luffy; brother, Jacob Sphon and wife, Phyllis of Latrobe, PA; and other family members.
Friends will be received 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, September 19, 2010 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home.
If desired, memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or Hospice of Wichita Falls.
