

William K. ‘Bill’ Hathaway, 83, of Wichita Falls, TX passed away Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 24, 2015 at the Chapel of Hampton Vaughan Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 Friday evening at the funeral home.
Bill was born February 20, 1931 in Ponca City, OK to Elmer and Pearl (Luter) Hathaway. He graduated from Wichita Falls High School in 1949 and then attended MSU and worked at the Times Record News until he joined the U. S. Navy in 1950 as an enlisted man. Bill achieved the rank of E7 and attended Warrant Officer School and became a CWO 1 on January 16, 1962.
Bill met, and shortly thereafter, married Carolyn Blanchette on February 20, 1956.
Bill had many assignments while in the Navy, including tours on ships that took him to ports overseas and stateside. In 1966, he attended the Navy Supply Corps School in Athens, GA and all future assignments were in commissary stores in Lakehurst, NJ, Beeville, TX, Corpus Christi, TX and Sasebo, Japan. He retired in Annapolis, MD in 1976 and returned home to Wichita Falls with his family.
Shortly after retirement, Bill attended Vernon Regional Junior College and received Associate Degrees in Business, Applied Science and Criminal Justice while working for Industrial Vending as a route/maintenance man for several years until becoming a security guard for Sikes Senter Mall. He then worked security for a local bank until joining Cannedy Security as a guard and later, an armored transport driver until retirement in 1993.
Bill was an avid bowler and member of the Fleet Reserve Association, VFW and the American Legion.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Dorothy and Mary; three brothers, Jerry, Donald (Dee) and Jack Hathaway and wife Carolyn; grandson, Cody Dever.
Survivors are brother, Larry Hathaway and wife Brenda of Fort Worth, TX; son, William Hathaway and partner Mike Starnes of Wichita Falls; daughters, Cynthia Dever and husband Dean of Cyril, OK and Cheryl Sivils and husband Randy of Wichita Falls; granddaughters, Danielle Tucker, Jeri Leigh Tucker, Dayne Dever of Moore, OK and Rhonda Mello of Surprize, AZ; grandsons, Rickie Herd of Lubbock, TX, Dale and Nathan Tucker of Annapolis, MD and Dean ‘DJ’ Dever, Jr. of Cyril, OK; also 10 great grandchildren and 4 step grandchildren.
