

Funeral Service will be 1:00 PM Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Hampton Vaughan Funeral Chapel.
Interment to follow at Crestview Memorial Park in the Garden of Faith. Visitiation will be 5:00-7:00 Monday September 3, 2012 at the funeral home.
Willie Mae was born March 18, 1920 in Cyril, Oklahoma to Mary Lee and Lexie Harvey McGahghey. She was raised in Wichita Falls and graduated from Wichita High.
She married Lee Roy Helms on July 18, 1939 in Wichita Falls. Together they began a lifetime of pastoral ministry in the Assemblies of God. Rev. and Mrs. Helms pastored churches in Texas and Oklahoma for 63 years until his death in 2002. If you ever saw one, you would also see the other. Willie Mae and Lee Roy were one in everything and every day. She played the piano , they sang together, she taught Sunday School classes, worked in women’s ministries, visited the sick and ministered in church services and the various denominational meetings and conferences. She was a member of Heritage Assembly of God in Wichita Falls.
She was preceded in death by her husband Rev. L.R. Helms, parents, L.H. and Mary Lee McGaughey, brothers Weldon McGaughey and Wilmon McGaughey.
Willie Mae is survived by three children; daughter, Melba and husband Douglas James of Wichita Falls; son, Gerald and wife Aquila of Oklahoma City and son, David and wife Teresa of Wichita Falls; sister, Bonnie and husband Kenneth Lynch of Wichita Falls, 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.
