

Alan Wayne Highland, 70, retired WSU Maintenance Supervisor, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2025. He was born October 30, 1954 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Glen Ivan and Wanda Mae (Clark) Highland.
Alan attended Wichita Public Schools, where he graduated from Wichita South High School in 1972. While in school, he met his high-school sweetheart, Sherry Lynn Stratton, and the two were married February 22, 1974. Alan served in the United States Navy from 1974 ~ 1979 as a operations specialist, where he was stationed in Norfolk, Virginia.
Alan was an avid sports fan and found joy in watching the Kansas City Chiefs and Wichita State Shockers. During his free time, he enjoyed going bowling, riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycle, traveling to USS Connole Ship reunions, making different woodworking projects, but most of all, making people laugh.
He is preceded in death by: his parents, GI and Wanda Highland.
He is survived by: his wife of 51 years, Sherry Highland; his son, Rob (Stacey) Highland; his siblings, Linda (Mike) Fleming of Maize, Kansas and Mike (Connie) Highland of Olathe, Kansas; his grandson, Gavyn Highland; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:00PM ~ 7:00PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Resthaven Mortuary.
Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at Resthaven Mortuary, 11800 West Highway 54, Wichita, Kansas 67209. Cremation will follow the services.
