Alexander "Alex" Terrones Medina, 50, of Newton, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2026, after a courageous battle for life after suffering a massive stroke. He was born July 20, 1976, in Newton, the son of Eugene "Gene" and Angela "Angie" (Terrones) Garnica.
Alex was a dedicated employee with the Dollar General in Newton, Kansas, where he served as a Manager. Alex had a love of pets, gnomes, and loved to spend time with his family and friends. One of his biggest passions was to try different kind of foods.
Alex's faith was one of his driving forces in life. He was a man who cared for others before he would care for himself. Alex will be missed greatly by his family, friends, and everyone whom he got the chance to meet.
He is preceded in death by: his mother, Angie Garnica; his brother, Andrew Medina; and his grandparents, Andrew and Conception Terrones.
He is survived by: his father, Gene Garnica; his brother, Tony Garnica; his son, Alex Medina, Jr.; his aunt, Delores "Dee" (Terrones) Luna; his loving partner, Crystal (Bell) Chumbley; and her children, Zoey Dawn Chumbley, Abby Marie Bell, and Cowan Jr.; his four legged friends, Pumpkin, Missy, Fizzgigg, Buddy, Q, and Apollo; along with many cousins, friends, co workers, and extended family.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM ~ 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 9, 2026; with the Recitation of the Holy Rosary at 10:00 AM and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM, all at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 421 South Ash Street, Newton, Kansas 67114. Cremation will follow the services, with inurnment held at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Newton, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers and in honor of Alex's love for animals, a memorial has been established with: Caring Hands Humane Society, 1400 SE 3rd Street, Newton, Kansas 67114.
