Swain, Alice Marie Metz, 91, passed away on Thursday, September 26. She was born to Jack and Emma Metz on November 17, 1921 on the family farm, 5 miles north of St. John, KS. She grew up there among 6 brothers and sisters and graduated from St. John High School in 1939. Soon thereafter she moved to Wichita, graduated from Wichita Business College and became secretary to local businessman Floyd DeVore. In Wichita, she met Ercell Swain, and on October 12, 1947 they were married at Trinity Church in Hudson, KS. After 63 years of marriage and a full life together, he preceded her in death. She was a dedicated homemaker, mother, and sports fan, and is survived by her son Woody (Barbara) Swain, daughters Anita (Jerry) Allard, and Kathryn (Robert) Scott, 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Services will be held at 2 pm, Monday at Resthaven Mortuary, with viewing on Sunday from 12 pm to 8 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Union Rescue Mission, 2800 N.
